Where I'm from, you don't often see doctors. Growing up in the inner city shaped how I meet people from every walk of life — I've had less, and I've always worked toward more.
I had a vision at a young age. It wasn't given to me, so I went after every resource I could find. What got me here is grit, true determination and resolve — and a God who kept opening doors.
Today I'm a third-year medical student preparing to apply to residency. I care deeply about mentorship, women's health, seeing more Black people in higher education, and keeping a life outside a demanding career.
